Beatification Process

For three days many faithful paid homage to her body on display, and the funeral took place on July 29th. She was buried in the cemetery of Centonara d' Arto. Given her enduring fame of holiness and devotion, the Bishop of Novara opened the ordinary process information for the Beatification in 1962. On April 27th 1970, her mortal remains were transferred to the crypt beneath the chapel of the house of the Holy Face. On March 27th 2007 they were moved into the chapel of the Holy Spirit Institute in Rome.
In April 2009 Pope Benedict XVI advanced her beatification process by formally recognizing a miracle attributed to her. She was beatified on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome by Archbishop Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in the Roman Curia. Although he was not present for the beatification Mass, Pope Benedict XVI noted her "extraordinary devotion" to the Holy Face of Christ at the Angelus audience the following Sunday.
According to Vatican Radio, many of those present at the rite were from Argentina and other parts of South America, a sign of the love for her in her adopted home of Buenos Aires. Archbishop Amato reportedly said that the trinitarian stamp that marks each of us as children of the Father, brothers of Christ and temples of the Holy Spirit has even greater visibility in the saints. Concluding, Archbishop Amato remembered her for the "concrete sign" she left in history of the Triune God and how she still "invites all people to see the attraction of divine beauty."
REPORT FAVORS RECEIVED
In order for her to be canonized, another miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Maria Pierina must be documented by the Church. However, any favors, big and small, that you have received through the prayers of Blessed Pierina are important to her cause for canonization and are of interest to the postulator in Rome.
